Failor Hurley Construction is a commercial and industrial general contractor that was founded in 2007. Our primary market includes Waterloo/Cedar Falls as well as projects within a 60 mile radius of the Cedar Valley.

We take pride in providing quality work, completing projects on time, and accommodating our clients' needs.

The principals of the company have over 85 years of combined experience in the commercial and industrial construction industry. Through this longevity in the local market, we are able to enjoy solid working relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Our good reputation has been gained by the loyal efforts of our employees, who contribute to every facet of our business.

Our construction crews are led by seasoned superintendents. In addition, we have qualified craftsmen and general construction workers to self-perform work onsite. Work typically performed with our own forces includes selective demolition, concrete work, iron work, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, doors/hardware, and accessories. We believe our quality field staff helps set us apart from other contractors.

Bill oversees all operations of Failor Hurley Construction. He believes that construction is a service industry and strives to take care of clients. Bill does this by dedicating his time and resources to plan and deliver quality projects on schedule.

With over 35 years of experience in Cedar Valley, Bill has been involved in nearly all project and building types during his career. His experience, insight, and attention to details are valuable to project teams in all phases of planning and construction.

Joe works with clients during pre-construction to develop design and budgets for potential projects. During construction, he manages the project. Joe has delivered construction projects in many different sectors of the industry including manufacturing, hospitality, education, institutional, commercial office, retail, and civil.

He also spent several years of his career as a facilities director and owner's representative. That experience provides him a unique perspective on contractor-client relationships. Joe is excited to continue his construction career in his hometown community of the Cedar Valley.

    • 20 years of experience in the construction industry.

    • Works with all stakeholders to successfully manage the preconstruction process and helps prepare projects for the start of construction.

Colin oversees field operations for Failor Hurley Construction. He ensures that projects are completed safely, with high quality, and on-time. Colin works with owners to establish a plan and a schedule that accommodates their ongoing operations. Often, Colin will investigate and learn about an owner's operations, equipment, facilities, and processes. This elevates his ability to serve their needs and efficiently execute clients' projects.

    • 30 years commercial construction experience.

    • 16 years superintendent experience.

    • 15 years general superintendent experience.

    • Manages the selection, training, development and performance of field staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce for Failor Hurley Construction.

    • Works with project stakeholders to identify alternative solutions.

    • Leads safety training effort for all employees and conducts safety audits on a continuous basis.

Throughout his career Justin has completed multiple project types including healthcare, mixed-use, multi-family, senior living, education, and commercial. He also spent the first 3 years of his career working for a notable architecture firm where he learned about the design process and construction documentation. The experience gained there provided him a great understanding of the owner, architect, and contractor relationship.

    • Graduate of the University of Northern Iowa Construction Management Program.

    • 13 years commercial construction experience.

    • 9 years of project management and estimating experience.

    • Collaborates with team members to develop an understanding of project scopes.

    • Estimates project budgets / estimates for negotiated work and hard bid projects.
